Frustratingly Fleeting Flurries

One of my disappoints the past two winters here in Potsdam has been the lack of snow. When I first arrived in March 2018, we had several snowfalls with a small amount of accumulation. Since then? There’s been little of the lovely white fluffy stuff. And I don’t even have to drive anywhere! I want snow!

We’ll be moving into January soon, so my hopes for some snow this winter remain. On Boxing Day we did get just a few snow flurries – properly bit fluffy snowflakes which are gorgeous to view out the window.

And then they lasted just about long enough for me to grab my camera and Pippin to go outside and get himself lightly dusted before ending:

Mostly though, the kitties sojourns on the balcony are short lived. It’s cold, grey, and not much is going on outside for most of the day. This means the balcony is boring. They spend more time indoors around us, lounging on various surfaces to be at head-height with us while we work. Sylvia enjoys the dresser behind my desk, putting her nicely in view of my camera on video calls. Pippin prefers to snag my desk chair anytime I use my standing-desk and leave the chair unoccupied. They’ve also started spending more time sleeping on the bed together in close by not-quite-touching proximity.

Rach’s insistence about Iowa being the best is certainly true for chances of snow nowadays! Maybe she will obligingly post snow pics for all to share. 🙂
