Zoe and Jayne were shot out of the sky before reaching Earth-That-Was’ Old Ellicott City, purportedly a good place to look for the object they’d be paid pretty good money to find. The buyer had suggested they look in “antique stores” for it.
This became a moot point when they crash landed amongst flora that clearly had taken very well to a lack of human interference. They climbed up some surreally high vegetation to scout the territory, and then snuck towards a structure, clearly newly built, where they hoped to meet whoever had taken their shuttle down and persuade whoever it was to give them a replacement.
Upon scaling the fortress, they were surprised by belligerent and apparently driverless vehicles and were promptly pushed back down a giant slide. They narrowly escaped being crushed by giant kegs of ancient liquor sent down after them. After rolling one back to their ship to scrap for its tin, Jayne generously emptied it and declared it still mighty fine.
Without the object and an intact hull, they started a long (and for some, stumbling) hike towards what looked to be a road. They were finding their bearings when they were grabbed by mask-wearing giants and crammed into an enormous landrover with California plates and what looked to be a pretty pissed off encaged mountain lion. Unfortunately, while California was at least on the provided list, they were headed south…
Traveling to who knows where with a mountain lion for company. While inebriated. Sounds like a bad day. That’s what you get if you “generously emptied” a keg larger than yourself…
